Overview

The coordinated crackdown that began in late July 2026 continued on 6 August with a major Carabinieri operation in Latina. Investigators uncovered a clandestine cocaine refinery concealed in vegetation near Via Antonio Pennacchi. The lab contained balances, microwaves, vacuum machines, a compressed‑air gun, a telescopic flare gun and a taser, as well as 27 sacks of extraction pellet (about 405 kg total). Officers seized more than 28 kg of cocaine—including 18 kg ready for sale—over €9,000 in cash, luxury watches, jewellery, smartphones, a laptop and other specialised gear. Five suspects were arrested – two Italians, a Dutch national, a Colombian and an Albanian – and transferred to a prison in Latina. The raid was coordinated by the Carabinieri Nucleo Investigativo of Frascati together with units from Anzio, Rome, Latina and the 1st Parachute Carabinieri Regiment “Tuscania”, supported by canine teams. The seized assets are being examined as part of the broader investigation.

The same day, Carabinieri actions in Frascati recovered an additional 18 kg of cocaine and detained five more individuals of mixed nationalities. Across Italy, the Guardia di Finanza intercepted shipments in Cagliari and San Giovanni Suergiu, seizing over 6 kg of cocaine and hashish and arresting four Italians. Other seizures included cocaine and cash in Modena, a stash in Livorno, small finds in San Lucido and Ragusa, and a cannabis greenhouse in Cecina producing 14 kg of marijuana, 1.7 kg of hashish and €12,500 in cash. These operations extend the summer‑long effort to dismantle drug production and distribution networks throughout Italy.
