Italian contemporary art exhibitions 2026

In late July 2026 Italy hosted several new contemporary art exhibitions across multiple cities. On July 24, Cagliari’s municipal museum SEARCH presented Roberto Ziranu’s steel sculptures inspired by sea life, while Rome’s Casa Vuota opened “Aliasing,” a show by Suren Dorfmann and Emanuele Zaccari that interrogates visual distortion and data overload.

Three days later, Milan added two major programmes during Milan Art Week. The Fondazione Emilio Scanavino revived Alik Cavaliere and Emilio Scanavino’s 1971 “Omaggio all’America Latina,” complemented by a new performance video by Guatemalan artist Regina José Galindo that addressed migration, inequality and political violence. Simultaneously, Casa degli Artisti launched the “Kaleidoskop” project, an Italy‑Germany exchange featuring installations by eight artists that explore memory, landscape and material culture.

Together, these events illustrate a coordinated surge of contemporary art activity in Italy, linking regional venues and international collaborations while foregrounding socially relevant themes.
