Construction investments are projected to exceed 250 billion euros in 2026, with infrastructure projects expected to account for 57% of total sector investments.

Recent reports from the 70th National Congress of Engineers in Trieste indicate that the sector faces a critical labor shortage. The CNI Study Center reported that out of 14,200 engineers requested by the production system, over 7,000 remain difficult to find, representing a 52.5% shortage caused by a lack of available candidates. CNI President Angelo Domenico Perrini has highlighted the necessity for professional reforms to address low remuneration and the integration of Artificial Intelligence, while also discussing university training and the transition toward qualifying degrees to accelerate the entry of young professionals into the workforce.
