Italian institutional forums on sustainability and rights

Overview

Italy continues to host institutional forums focused on sustainability, innovation, and economic governance. Building on previous discussions regarding the integration of sustainability and digital payments, recent forums in Rome have expanded these themes. At the Remind Forum, leaders addressed the alignment of sustainability with national innovation goals, while Bancomat CEO Fabrizio Burlando announced that domestic European cards will soon be payable via Bancomat across thirteen initial countries.

Economic competitiveness remains a central theme. Minister Tommaso Foti emphasized the role of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) in driving structural transformation through administrative simplification. Recent developments indicate a transition period following the conclusion of major PNRR funding cycles, with FenealUil highlighting an urgent need for housing solutions in metropolitan areas.

Regional initiatives continue to support local economies. The Marche region, which previously reported over 457 million euros in business financing, is now introducing 9.6 million euros in new credit measures to support agriculture and small-to-medium enterprises. In Calabria, a new bio-school has opened in Cetraro focusing on sustainable architecture, while ministerial initiatives in Southern Italy aim to enhance digital and green skills for SMEs through professional training.

Legislative efforts continue to address social and corporate rights. This includes ongoing debates regarding corporate governance and worker participation rights under Law n. 76/2025, as well as parliamentary discussions concerning protections for over-indebted individuals to facilitate economic recovery.
