Italian motorway infrastructure maintenance

Overview

Scheduled maintenance and infrastructure upgrades are affecting several Italian motorways in September 2026.

In early September, nighttime closures were planned for the A8 motorway between Varese and Gallarate to facilitate the modernization of noise barriers. These restrictions affected the section between the D08 Gallarate-Gattico branch junction and Castronno.

Later in the month, additional closures were scheduled for the A7, A53, and A54 motorways. These works include the redevelopment of the Binasco viaduct on the A7, as well as safety barrier and embankment restoration on the A53 and A54 routes.
