Italian municipal roundabout projects

Overview

In late July 2026 the municipality of Guastalla, Italy, finished a new roundabout at the junction of via Salvador Allende and via Sacco e Vanzetti. The €263,015 project was fully funded from the city budget, completed on schedule, and included simultaneous water‑pipe replacement with the regional water service IRETI. Local officials said the roundabout will improve traffic flow and safety for a nearby high school, sports centre and hospital.

A few days later, on 1 August 2026, the town of Loreto inaugurated the “Bellaluce” roundabout on state road SP 24. Co‑financed by the Province of Ancona and the municipality at a cost of €625,000, the 42‑metre‑diameter structure is dedicated to Don Luigi Giussani and aims to reduce accidents at a historically dangerous intersection linking Loreto, Porto Recanati and Recanati. The design features a central island and four ramps to slow traffic and improve flow across the three municipalities.

Both projects illustrate a recent wave of local infrastructure upgrades in Italian towns, focusing on roundabout construction to enhance road safety and traffic efficiency.
