Italian pension payment schedules and requirements

In August 2026, Italy scheduled the 13th and 14th pension payments for eligible retirees, including Romanian pensioners. To receive these supplements, Romanian retirees were required to complete the annual REDEST 2026 form to report 2025 income to the INPS.

By late August, Poste Italiane announced that September pension payments would commence on Tuesday, September 1. Funds will be accessible at all post offices and for those with direct credit via Savings Books, BancoPosta accounts, or Postepay Evolution cards. Cardholders may withdraw cash from Postamat ATMs, while counter withdrawals require a valid identity document; third-party delegation is permitted for collection.

Poste Italiane noted that debit card holders associated with specific accounts or books are eligible for a free insurance policy. This policy provides compensation of up to 700 euros per year in cases of cash theft occurring within two hours of a withdrawal from a post office or Postamat ATM. To minimize wait times, the company advises pensioners to visit during the late morning or afternoon, or on days following the start of the month.

Standard pension payments for September may vary in net amount due to tax adjustments, local surcharges, or potential recoveries. Additionally, pensioners who failed to provide required income information from 2022 may face a 5% deduction related to the RED campaign.
