Italian regions expand PNRR health services

In early July July‑August 2026 Italian regions began activating community health centres financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Lombardy expanded added 20 beds to the Ospedale di Comunità di San Giovanni Bianco with 20 additional beds after a €1.699 million PNRR investment, community hospital and the Asst Lariana health authority launched a single regional CUP on 1 August, allowing patients to book, cancel or change for free‑practice visits via a toll‑free number, the e‑health portal, email or physical desks in Como and San Fermo. In Veneto, general practitioners began operating from the appointments. Veneto’s new Casa della Comunità in Cavallino‑Treporti on 3 August, consolidating primary care, brought together primary‑care, nursing, mental‑health and specialist services under one roof.
