Italian school funding in Campania

Overview

The Italian Ministry of Education and Merit has implemented funding through the ‘Agenda Sud’ initiatives to support schools in the Campania region.

Initially, approximately 69 million euros were allocated to 624 schools across Campania to combat educational poverty, territorial disparities, and dropout rates. In the Avellino province, 44 schools were designated to receive roughly 4.8 million euros. Local officials noted these investments are intended to serve as a “social safeguard to combat depopulation” by providing opportunities in fragile, inland areas.

Following this, an additional 11 million euros was allocated under the ‘Agenda Sud 2’ macro-financing initiative specifically for the renovation of 98 schools in the Caserta province. This funding covers various areas, including Aversa, Capua, and Castel Volturno, with regional officials stating the allocation aims to ensure southern territories are not left behind.
