Italian student road safety education initiatives

Educational programs focused on road safety and legal responsibility have been implemented for students across various Italian municipalities.

In Baronissi, the Municipal Police Command launched a project for middle school students at the Istituto Comprensivo Autonomia 82. The program includes specialized courses on the Highway Code to teach correct conduct for pedestrians, cyclists, and future drivers. Mayor Anna Petta described the initiative as an investment in the community to foster responsible citizens.

Further efforts in Amalfi, through the “Sulla strada della prevenzione” event, targeted students from the Marini-Gioia-Comite Institute. This program, organized by the Salerno District Office for the Execution of External Penalties alongside the municipalities of Amalfi and Atrani, focused on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. It featured testimonies from the Association of Families and Victims of the Road and the Salerno Logos Group.

Additionally, the National Association of Military Commissariats held a meeting at the Army Commissariat School titled “Narcotic substances and road safety.” This session involved magistrates, doctors, law enforcement, and professors discussing the legal, medical, and social consequences of substance use while driving.

Recent regional efforts continue to emphasize these themes. In Amalfi and Grottolella, educational programs for students maintain a focus on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, while also incorporating civil protection training. In Pesaro, students participated in a communication contest designed to raise awareness regarding the risks of substance addiction.
