In August 2026, Italy hosted several high-profile tribute events honoring deceased musicians, with a particular focus on the legacy of Franco Battiato. Following the early August tributes in Sovicille and Viterbo, additional commemorations for Battiato expanded across the country. In Montalbano Elicona, the “Note di pietra” festival opened at the Argimusco megalithic site with a performance titled “L’alba dentro l’Eterno.” Directed by Francesco Costa, the Coro Lirico Siciliano performed Battiato’s songs against the backdrop of the Etna volcano as part of the VIII Festival Lirico dei Teatri di Pietra. Further tributes were scheduled for Sant’Agnello on 13 August at the church of Santi Prisco e Agnello. This event, directed by Leonardo Quadrini, features the S. C. S. International Symphony Orchestra and the jazz band “La Cruna del Lago,” aiming to blend classical symphonic music with modern rock to reflect Battiato’s avant-garde style. Other summer commemorations include a tribute to both Franco Battiato and Lucio Dalla in Milo, featuring artists Amara and Simone Cristicchi. In Diano Marina, the biopic “Franco Battiato. Il lungo viaggio” is scheduled for screening. Earlier in the month, the Franco Battiato Foundation and manager Francesco Cattini welcomed Federico Mecozzi’s national instrumental tour, “Traiettorie impercettibili,” which reinterprets Battiato’s repertoire through various instruments and electronics. Additionally, the 7 August “Terme dei Papi Summer Live Show” in Viterbo honored singer-songwriter Franco Califano through a program of comedy and musical arrangements performed by Maurizio Mattioli and Alberto Laurenti. On 27 August, the Teatro dell'Efebo in Agrigento scheduled hosted “Battiato Tribute – La cura dell’eterno” as part of the “Efebo in Musica” 2026 program. This symphonic-vocal performance features featured the Coro Lirico Siciliano, conducted by Maestro Francesco Costa, alongside vocalist Rita Botta.
