Italian tribute concerts for late musicians

In early August 2026 Italy hosted two high‑profile tribute events honoring deceased singers. On 5 August, Sovicille’s Piazza Marconi staged a free outdoor show titled “Il Mare nel Cassetto – La via di Franco Battiato,” featuring narration, vocals, violin‑electronics and a fragment of Battiato’s voice, while composer Federico Mecozzi launched a national instrumental tour re‑interpreting Battiato’s catalogue.

Two days later, on 7 August, Viterbo’s historic Terme dei Papi swimming pool held the seventh “Terme dei Papi Summer Live Show,” a tribute to Franco Califano. The program combined comedy, monologues and musical arrangements of Califano’s best‑known songs, performed by actor Maurizio Mattioli and composer‑guitarist Alberto Laurenti.

Both events were part of regional summer‑season cultural programmes, highlighting Italy’s tradition of commemorating influential musicians through live performances that blend music with other artistic elements.
