Italy historic enterprise registry

In July 2026 Italy’s chambers of commerce, through Unioncamere, opened the National Registry of Historic Enterprises, allowing firms that have operated continuously for at least a century to register free of charge. The programme set a September 30 2026 deadline for existing centennial companies and a July 31 2027 deadline for those reaching the milestone in 2026. At the same time, Lombardy continued its “New Enterprise” grant, covering half of eligible start‑up costs up to €10,000.

By early August, the registration window had been reopened and the registry began to attract attention as a catalyst for broader entrepreneurial activity. Data from the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy showed that more than 12,000 innovative startups were now listed in a special section of the business register. Experts highlighted the need for practical tools and mentorship to help new firms survive and compete internationally, underscoring the registry’s role in spotlighting Italy’s long‑standing businesses while fostering a growing start‑up ecosystem.
