Jacob Grandison doping violation and suspension

Overview

Finnish basketball player Jacob Grandison tested positive for amphetamine during the EuroBasket 2025 tournament in Tampere. Grandison, who contributed to Finland’s victory over Serbia in the round of 16, attributed the positive result to the use of Adderall, a medication prescribed for ADHD.

While Grandison had informed the Finnish national team’s medical staff of his medication use, a required therapeutic use exemption (TUE) was not officially processed due to an administrative error. The Finnish Basketball Federation has accepted full responsibility for this procedural failure.

As a result, Grandison received a three-month suspension from FIBA-organized competitions. This suspension prevented him from competing for the French club Boulazac and concluded in early January 2026. Grandison is expected to be eligible for FIBA competitions again starting in January 2026.
