Jakarta social assistance data inaccuracy disputes

Overview

Residents in Jakarta have begun reporting inaccuracies in their ‘Desil’ economic classification data, which determines eligibility for essential government social assistance. Discrepancies in state records regarding housing, employment, and health status have reportedly led to incorrect rankings, preventing citizens from accessing programs such as Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP), Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP), and various health initiatives.

In response, the Posko Perjuangan Rakyat (Pospera) established complaint centers, such as the one in Cipinang, East Jakarta, to inventory actual socio-economic conditions. Pospera Jakpus has indicated it will advocate for residents to have their desil status lowered to restore aid access. The organization intends to submit collected data to the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta for re-evaluation and assessment to ensure the accuracy of welfare data.
