The search for the next James Bond to succeed Daniel Craig continues to generate intense speculation. While various actors such as Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson have been linked to the role, recent reports suggest the selection may have narrowed to as few as three actors. Jack Barton has emerged as a significant frontrunner, with industry whispers labeling him ‘The One’ after reportedly impressing casting director Nina Gold. His candidacy is potentially bolstered by his connection to screenwriter Steven Knight. Speculation has been further fueled by actor Gary Oldman, who suggested during an interview on ‘The Morning Show’ that a decision has already been reached. Oldman expressed support for his ‘Slow Horses’ co-star Jack Lowden, stating, ‘They have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet.’ In a BBC Radio 4 interview, Knight declined to deny that a casting decision has been made. Describing his role in penning the script as ‘doing my duty for King and country,’ Knight noted that knowing the actor ‘does make life a little bit easier if you know who that person is,’ though he maintained that the focus must remain on the character rather than the actor. Other names frequently mentioned in casting discussions include Callum Turner. Amazon MGM Studios has declined to comment on Oldman’s claims. The upcoming production, directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Knight, marks a new era for the franchise under the creative direction of Amazon MGM, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman leading the production.
