In a BBC Radio 4 interview, Knight declined to deny that a casting decision has been made. Describing his role in penning the script as ‘doing my duty for King and country,’ Knight noted that knowing the actor ‘does make life a little bit easier if you know who that person is,’ though he maintained that the focus must remain on the character rather than the actor. Amazon MGM Studios has declined to comment on Oldman’s claims. The upcoming production, directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Knight, marks a new era for the franchise under the creative direction of Amazon MGM, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman leading the production. An official announcement may arrive by the end of the year.
