Jammu and Kashmir narco-terror crackdown
Overview
Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified operations targeting the financial networks of drug trafficking and terror-related activities. Initial enforcement actions in Srinagar involved the attachment and freezing of four immovable properties valued at approximately Rs 7.11 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
These efforts expanded into a broader crackdown against narco-terrorism and cross-border terror funding syndicates. Authorities reported the attachment of 288 illegal properties with a total value exceeding ₹138 crore, alongside the recovery of more than ₹80 lakh in cash. Security operations during this period also resulted in the elimination of five foreign terrorists and the seizure of various weapons, including M4 Carbines and AK-47 assault rifles. To date, police have registered over 3,257 cases under the NDPS Act, leading to approximately 4,000 arrests.
