Janaf oil and gas investment in Kazakhstan

Overview

Jadranski naftovod (Janaf) has expanded its operations from transport into the upstream oil and gas sector through a partnership in Kazakhstan. Following a January 2026 decision, Janaf signed documentation to enter the ownership structure of Geoenergija razvoj d. o. o., becoming a 50 percent co-owner.

In collaboration with the Kazakh national company KazMunayGas, the project focuses on the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Shygys field. Janaf has committed up to 43.68 million euros to fund the initiative, specifically covering the geological research phase. The planned work program includes conducting 2D seismic research over 500 kilometers and drilling an exploration well to a depth of 3,500 meters.
