JB Financial Group AI transformation initiatives

JB Financial Group has initiated a strategic move toward enterprise-wide artificial intelligence transformation (AX). In partnership with Bespin Global, the group began developing an execution model designed to establish group-wide AI standards while allowing subsidiaries, such as Jeonbuk Bank, Gwangju Bank, and JB Woori Capital, to implement specialized functions on a common platform.

This technical approach utilizes a hybrid environment, combining on-premise AI platforms for data security with public cloud-based playgrounds for testing the latest Large Language Model (LLM) technologies. Current efforts focus on optimizing corporate credit screening, software development life cycles, and the utilization of business documentation.

Expanding on this digital strategy, three JB Financial affiliates invested 40 billion won in the AI company Upstage, securing a roughly 2% stake. This investment aims to leverage Upstage’s technology to automate repetitive tasks like document processing and credit reviews. While pursuing these technological advancements, the group is also expanding its international footprint through the planned acquisition of Kyrgyzstani firms Korkukredit and Korkuirising by JB Woori Capital.
