JBS leadership succession plan

Overview

JBS, the world’s largest protein processor, has announced a leadership succession plan for its global operations. Wesley Batista Filho, the 34-year-old current CEO of JBS USA and a member of the founding family, is scheduled to become Global CEO in January 2027.

Batista Filho will succeed Gilberto Tomazoni, who has served as Global CEO since 2018. During Tomazoni’s tenure, company revenue grew from approximately US$ 49.7 billion to US$ 86.2 billion. Following a five-month transition period, Tomazoni will move into roles as Vice Chairman of the Board and Senior Advisor, while continuing as Chairman of the board for Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation.

The appointment is viewed by financial institutions as a move toward strategic continuity. Batista Filho intends to focus on international expansion into the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Oceania, alongside diversifying the company’s portfolio into high-value-added products such as fish and eggs. His return to operational leadership follows a period where the founding Batista family had withdrawn from such roles.
