Jihlava swimming pool renovation
Overview
The swimming pool on E. Rošického Street in Jihlava has officially reopened following a 14-month reconstruction project. Originally built in the 1960s, the facility underwent a comprehensive renovation costing 88 million CZK to address issues such as leaking stainless steel tubs and structural complications.
The project was supported by subsidies from the Vysočina Region (25 million CZK) and the National Sports Agency (20 million CZK). The upgrades include new stainless steel tubs, modern technology, an outdoor terrace, and improved amenities such as air conditioning and better lighting.
Representatives from the contractor, Metrostav, noted that the renovation faced challenges regarding the stability of the pool's load-bearing structures, requiring several change orders. The Jihlava Swimming Club, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary, will hold its first competition in the renovated space on September 19.
