Joanne Sheen murder investigation

Overview

Human remains discovered in woodland near Feltham, south-west London, following a wildfire at Bedfont Pits have been identified as Joanne Sheen. Sheen, a mother-of-three from Southampton, had been missing since December 2019.

The remains were located on August 12 near Padstow Walk after a blaze damaged approximately two hectares of shrubland. Following forensic and DNA testing, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary took over the investigation from the Metropolitan Police, treating the death as a murder.

A 56-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. While five individuals were arrested in 2020 regarding her disappearance, no charges were filed at that time. Detectives have stated that this discovery is a “significant development” that has opened several new lines of enquiry.
