Vinícius Júnior faces potential benching at Real Madrid

Overview

During José Mourinho’s second tenure at Real Madrid, the manager has established a core group of regular starters, including Thibaut Courtois, Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior, and Fede Valverde.

While Mourinho previously expressed “full confidence” in Vinícius Júnior, the Brazilian winger is currently facing intense scrutiny following underwhelming performances for both his club and the Brazil national team. To manage the player’s form and help him regain psychological confidence and match rhythm, reports suggest Mourinho may consider benching Vinícius for the upcoming match against Villarreal on October 10.

Vinícius has publicly acknowledged the need to rebuild his self-confidence following a difficult international break. While some media outlets and supporters have called for his rotation, the player’s return to peak form remains vital for Real Madrid’s upcoming schedule, which includes fixtures against Roma, Sevilla, and Leipzig, leading up to the Clasico against Barcelona on October 25.
