Jude Bellingham role and contract at Real Madrid
Overview
Jude Bellingham has transitioned into a new tactical role at Real Madrid under manager José Mourinho. Operating as a ‘media punta’ (attacking midfielder) near the opponent’s area, Bellingham has utilized his physical presence and ball progression to support an attacking trio alongside Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.
Following his impactful performances and a strong start to the 2026 season, Real Madrid prioritized a long-term contract extension for the English midfielder. While his initial commitment was set to expire in June 2029, the club sought to secure his future to prevent uncertainty and ward off interest from Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United. In September 2026, reports indicated the club aimed to extend his stay until 2032, with salary terms intended to bring his earnings in line with top teammates like Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior.
As of late October 2026, Bellingham has entered positive discussions regarding a contract extension that could secure his future until 2031. Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023 for approximately 127 million euros, he has recorded 49 goals and 36 assists. His recent form has stabilized following a period of physical challenges, including a shoulder injury. Beyond club duties, Bellingham recently gained recognition from People magazine, being named the most attractive player for the 2026 World Cup category following a strong international performance where he helped England secure third place.
