Juventus injury crisis and Genoa match outcome

Overview

Juventus continues to manage a significant injury crisis as they navigate a period of instability. Manager Luciano Spalletti has been forced to utilize a 3-5-2 formation to address the unavailability of key personnel, including Kenan Yildiz, Francisco Conceicao, Nico Gonzalez, Khephren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli, Zeki Celik, Jeff Ekhator, Arkadiusz Milik, and Kamil Grabara.

To bolster the 23-man squad for the recent Serie A fixture against Genoa, Spalletti included Albanian players Edon Zhegrova and 18-year-old Arman Durmishi, the latter receiving his first first-team call-up, alongside young talents Augusto Owusu and Filippo Pagnucco. Tactical considerations for the attacking lineup involved Nick Woltemade or Kerim Alajbegovic for starting roles, with Randal Kolo Muani potentially starting from the bench.

In the match held at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa secured a 2-0 victory. The home side, coached by Daniele De Rossi, took control in the first half with goals from Kingsley Ehizibue in the 12th minute and Tommaso Baldanzi in the 28th minute. This result marked Genoa’s third consecutive win without conceding a goal, moving them to 10 points in the standings. Juventus struggled to find rhythm and faced defensive difficulties, including an own goal by Andrea Cambiaso. Following the match, Spalletti apologized to fans, citing a lack of “competitive aggression” and tactical struggles. Despite tactical changes and substitutions in the second half, the visitors were unable to mount a successful comeback, leaving the club in a period of crisis. The defeat leaves Juventus in eighth place with 14 points, struggling with offensive consistency.
