Karabük University cultural heritage initiatives

Overview

Karabük University has initiated several programs focused on the preservation and celebration of cultural heritage. The university first introduced a policy report regarding the digitalization of the intangible cultural heritage of the Turkic world. This project, involving academic representatives from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, aims to protect traditions and customs from modernization through digital documentation.

Following this, the university hosted a festival featuring students from 81 different provinces. The event served as a platform for showcasing regional gastronomic, natural, and cultural values. During these initiatives, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Kırışık emphasized the concept of a ‘social homeland,’ noting that preserving language, history, and arts is essential for maintaining national identity and social unity.
