Karnataka government land allotment cancellations
Overview
The Karnataka government has ordered the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to cancel approximately 1,100 illegal alternative site allotments in Mysuru. These sites, valued at roughly Rs 2,000 crore, were reportedly granted under a land compensation scheme in violation of a March 2023 government directive.
The decision follows recommendations from the Justice P. N. Desai Commission and a high-level technical committee. For sites where sale deeds have already been registered, the government intends to initiate legal proceedings and civil suits to seek cancellation. Authorities have also been directed to withhold or cancel the issuance of khatas for the affected properties.
