Karnataka tourism drive at IITM 2026

In late July 2026, Karnataka’s Energy and Tourism Minister K.J. George inaugurated the India International Travel Mart (IITM) in Bangalore. The three‑day B2B exhibition drew about 850 participants from Indian states and overseas tourism organisations. During the opening, the minister unveiled a package of incentives – subsidies, single‑window clearances and other policy simplifications – aimed at attracting private investment to develop resorts, adventure facilities and cruise services in the state.

A few days later, Karnataka tourism was honoured with the “Best Nature & Wildlife Tourism Destination” award at the same IITM. The award ceremony, also opened by Minister George, highlighted the state’s wildlife‑conservation initiatives and nature‑based tourism offerings, signalling both governmental promotion and international recognition of Karnataka’s tourism sector.

Together, the events illustrate Karnataka’s coordinated effort in 2026 to boost tourism infrastructure through policy incentives and to showcase its natural attractions, culminating in formal acknowledgement at a major national travel exhibition.
