Karposh Cultural Summer festival

The Karposh Municipality launched its annual ‘Karposh Cultural Summer’ festival, a ten-day event running from August 20 to August 30. The program was designed to bridge Macedonian cultural heritage with contemporary creative practices through music, film, and visual arts. Initial announcements highlighted a diverse schedule including musical performances by artists such as Nokat, Igor Dzambazov, and the Tumbao Salsa Band, alongside exhibitions of theater posters and fine arts. As the festival progressed, programming expanded into public spaces. Activities included the creation of an interactive mural titled ‘Potamu, sonot’ near the Faculty of Information Technologies, Computer Science and Engineering, as well as children’s spatial installations at Fountain Square. The festival also incorporated outdoor cinema screenings of Macedonian films and musical sets aimed at engaging local youth. During the event, AKUD ‘Mirce Acev’ organized a presentation of folklore arts featuring international dance ensembles from Mexico, Romania, Hungary, Poland, and Turkey, alongside local groups. The ‘ReArt’ project also featured an exhibition of sculptures made from recycled materials by young talents, which Mayor Sotir Lukrovski attended to highlight the intersection of creativity and environmental responsibility. Recent festival highlights included a performance by the female choir ‘Frida’, led by conductor Suzana Turundzhieva, performing a repertoire of international hits from the 1960s through the 1980s mixed with Macedonian evergreen and traditional songs. The ‘Karposh Between Colors and Generations’ exhibition showcased works from approximately 15 students of the ‘Galika Premium Art’ school and academic artist Elena Galika. Musical programming continued with the pop-rock cover band ‘Day Off’, alongside Igor Dzambazov and Guru Hare. Open-air cinema screenings at the ‘Petar Pop Arsov’ primary school included the films ‘Balkankan’ and ‘The Healer’. Following the conclusion of the ten-day program, the local municipality announced that the festival attracted over 20,000 visitors.
