Kazakhstan oil export disruptions

Overview

In late July 2026, Kazakhstan’s main oil‑export pipeline, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), temporarily stopped loading oil at its marine terminal. The Ministry of Energy said the pause was a safety precaution for ships, crews and the environment in the Black Sea, though the pipeline’s production facilities remained operational.

Within the same month, Tengizchevroil announced that it had resumed crude shipments by diverting them to the Batumi terminal in Georgia. The shift followed repeated CPC interruptions caused by drone attacks on tankers near Novorossiysk and adverse weather. About 20,000 metric tons of oil were rerouted to Batumi, a costlier but necessary alternative to keep Kazakhstan’s export flow steady.
