KDE’s desktop environment progressed rapidly through mid‑2026. The 6.7 series launched on 16 June 2026, adding a global microphone‑mute hotkey, per‑monitor virtual‑desktop layouts, remote‑control session notifications, refined KRunner search, and an automatic day/night theme switch. Subsequent point releases refined the stack: 6.7.1 (early July) focused on Wayland stability; 6.7.3 (14 July) restored NVIDIA triple buffering and fixed display‑wake and calendar‑plugin vulnerabilities. On 4 August, the 6.7.4 maintenance update addressed critical AMD GPU display corruption via libepoxy workarounds, improved SDDM stability, and introduced new Wayland protocol extensions. Development of the upcoming 6.8 release, slated for October 2026, focused on significant performance and utility upgrades.
