Kefalonia horse and scooter collision

Overview

A 17-year-old was seriously injured in Kefalonia following a collision between an electric scooter and a horse near the Agia Varvara bridge. The horse was being led by its owner on a rope at the time of the incident.

The victim was initially treated at the General Hospital of Kefalonia before being airlifted via military aircraft to the ‘G. Gennimatas’ Hospital in Athens for intensive care due to the severity of the injuries. Medical staff in Athens have reported that the teenager is no longer in life-threatening condition and is showing positive signs of recovery.

Local police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and the presence of the animal on the roadway. The owner of the horse has been arrested and faces charges of negligent bodily harm.
