Kem Tràng Tiền closure in Hanoi

Overview

Kem Tràng Tiền, a historic ice cream brand established in 1958, announced it will cease operations at its iconic 35 Tràng Tiền location in Hanoi on September 15, 2026. Initial reports indicated the closure was due to the expiration of the lease agreement as the brand, operated by Kem Tràng Tiền JSC under One Capital Hospitality (OCH), transitioned toward a broader distribution network.

Subsequent details revealed the closure is also part of a business space transformation amid financial challenges for the parent company. While OCH reported a 58% year-on-year increase in net revenue for the first half of 2026, it recorded a post-tax loss of nearly 22 billion VND due to rising selling and administrative expenses. As of June 30, 2026, the company faced accumulated undistributed post-tax losses totaling approximately 382.7 billion VND.

Despite the closure of the 35 Tràng Tiền site, the brand maintains several other locations, including 18 Hàng Bài, 44 Tràng Tiền, and 18 Ngô Quyền, and continues to expand its nationwide presence.
