Kenya EACC anti-corruption initiatives
Overview
Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has initiated several efforts to combat corruption through domestic and international cooperation. The commission partnered with the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) to promote ethical leadership and utilize religious networks to mobilize communities against unethical practices. Internationally, the EACC has worked with Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (NAZAHA) to improve capacity in tracing illicit wealth and recovering assets.
Following these partnerships, the EACC has focused on the upcoming 2027 General Election. Chairperson Dr. David Oginde warned religious leaders against accepting illicit funds from questionable sources, noting that such actions could normalize corruption. The commission cautioned that politicians funded by money laundering or unexplained wealth might manipulate government procurement and tenders once in power to reward financiers.
