Kidnapping and ransom extortion in Hyderabad
Overview
In Hyderabad, police apprehended ten gang members involved in the abduction of jewelry businessman K Srinivas Rao. The group, which included individuals impersonating police officers, kidnapped Rao near the Golnaka Flyover on October 5.
The gang held Rao at an undisclosed location and demanded a ransom of Rs 15 crore. Authorities reported that the group successfully extorted Rs 1.30 crore before his release. Investigators recovered Rs 1.07 crore in cash and gold ornaments. The crime was allegedly motivated by a real estate dispute involving the mastermind, Dumavath Srikanth, who sought to secure property documents through the kidnapping.
