Kidney transplant at Quang Ninh City General Hospital

Overview

Doctors at Quang Ninh City General Hospital successfully performed a kidney transplant on a 33-year-old recipient from Quang Yen who had been suffering from end-stage chronic kidney disease and requiring dialysis for two years.

The donor was a 45-year-old man who was declared brain-dead following a traffic accident on September 16 that resulted in fatal multi-trauma injuries. After medical efforts failed to save the donor, his family consented to organ donation.

To facilitate the procedure, hospital leadership conducted online consultations with specialists from Viet Duc University Hospital to evaluate the organs and develop a transplant plan. This operation marks the third kidney transplant performed at the hospital, bringing its total number of successful kidney transplants to six.
