Kings League MENA regional launch
Overview
Kings League MENA, a joint venture between Sarg Sports Investment and the Kings League, has initiated its regional operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In early September, the organization appointed Saudi national Wael Al-Fayez as its first regional CEO. Al-Fayez, formerly the Chief Commercial Officer for the Saudi Pro League, was tasked with overseeing the league’s return to Riyadh.
On September 18, the league launched its first full season, known as Split 1, at the Boulevard Riyadh City’s Colosseum Arena. The competition features 10 teams representing various Arab markets, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Kuwait, and Qatar. The season structure includes nine league matchdays followed by knockout rounds, aiming to blend football with digital culture and content creation.
As the season progressed into its second matchday, the league saw a significant influx of talent from Spain, with approximately 21 players and several coaches moving to the MENA division to bolster competitive levels. During recent play, Ultra Chmicha, led by Moroccan content creator Ilyas Elmaliki, secured a 7-3 victory over Rising Peaks to claim the top spot in the standings. Other notable activity included a high-scoring match between FWZ and Redzone, which featured Jordanian national team player Ali Olwan.
