The Kinofest 2026 is scheduled for September 12 and 13, offering cinema tickets across Germany for a flat rate of five euros. The promotion applies to all films and seating categories at participating venues nationwide. Organized by HDF KINO, AllScreens, and AG Kinopräsentieren, the fifth edition of the festival operates under the theme ‘Films for everyone. Cinema for everyone.’ The event aims to boost attendance at both large multiplexes and independent art-houses. In the Allgäu region, participating venues include Alpenfilmtheater Füssen and Cineplex Memmingen, while the Nuremberg area includes theaters such as Cinecitta’ and Metropolis. In Hessen, the event spans cities including Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Kassel, Fulda, Gießen, and Kassel. Darmstadt. Hessen’s Minister of Culture, Timon Gremmels, is scheduled to appear at the Filmpalast Kassel, with Minister President Boris Rhein serving as the official political patron for the region. The festival follows a successful 2025 event that recorded 1.65 million visitors. It occurs during a period of rising cinema attendance in Germany; data from the Filmförderungsanstalt (FFA) indicates that 47.5 million tickets were sold in the first half of the year, driven by high-performing titles, leading to projections that annual sales could exceed 100 million. Participating cinemas, such as CinemaxX Trier, will screen a variety of films ranging from recent releases to special programming.
