KKB armed group activity in Papua

Overview

Indonesian security forces have engaged in both law enforcement actions and reintegration efforts involving members of the KKB armed criminal group in Papua.

In Yahukimo Regency, police arrested an individual identified as NB, a member of the KKB Batalyon Yamue. The suspect is linked to two shooting incidents near the Kali Biru Bridge in April 2026, one of which resulted in the death of a civil servant. During the arrest, officers recovered ammunition.

Concurrently, in Central Papua, four KKB members from the Tolikara and Yambi regional commands surrendered their firearms, including an AR-15 and various pistols, during a reintegration ceremony at the Puncak Jaya District Command headquarters. These individuals declared their return to the Republic of Indonesia.
