Knife threat and taser arrest in Tolentino

Overview

In Tolentino, Carabinieri officers arrested 34-year-old Rodriguez Da Silva after he threatened his mother and law enforcement with a kitchen knife. Da Silva, a Brazilian national with an expired visa, was serving house arrest at his mother’s residence at the time of the incident.

Following the confrontation, officers used a taser to subdue the man, who was described as being in a state of intense psychological agitation. He was subsequently transported to a hospital in Macerata under police guard.

The Sic Marche union later commented on the incident, praising the use of the taser as an “effective tool for active prevention” and a means to ensure the safety of both the public and officers. The union attributed the successful resolution to the professionalism and coordination of the responding patrols.
