Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin has begun rehabilitation following a six-week period of immobilization for a torn sagittal band in his left ring finger. After moving to the team’s complex in Bradenton, Florida, to begin light swings and defensive work, Griffin transitioned to a formal rehabilitation assignment with the Double-A Altoona Curve. Griffin was officially reinstated from the injured list on September 4. In his first game back, he made an immediate impact in a 1-0 victory against the Los Angeles Angels at PNC Park. After reaching base, Griffin scored the game’s only run following an RBI double by Jake Mangum in the second inning.
