Kosovo legal proceedings in Zubin-Potok

The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has initiated legal proceedings against several suspects in Zubin-Potok related to both historical war crimes and recent attacks on infrastructure.

In the ‘Intellectuals Group’ case, prosecutors have requested the detention of nine suspects accused of war crimes committed during the 1999 conflict. The indictment alleges the killing, disappearance, and torture of 23 civilians, including doctors and teachers. Recent forensic exhumations in Kalludër e Vogël and Jabuka have uncovered remains believed to belong to at least 23 individuals, pending DNA identification.

Separately, legal proceedings have commenced against three individuals accused of detonating explosives at the Iber Lepenc canal in November 2024. Prosecutors allege the use of approximately 20 kilograms of TNT to damage the canal, which is critical for energy and drinking water. These arrests have triggered political friction, with Serbian SNS chairman Miloš Vučević accusing Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti of using “terror and intimidation” against Serbs.
