KPK corruption investigation at Indonesia's ATR/BPN Ministry

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted searches at the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) as part of an investigation into alleged bribery related to Building Use Rights (HGB) for Summarecon Bogor and other entities. KPK investigators searched several directorate rooms and the offices of three Director Generals. While the office of Minister Nusron Wahid was reportedly not entered, several high-ranking officials, including the Director General of Land and Spatial Control and Order, Lampri, have been named suspects. The investigation is reportedly examining connections between the suspects and the Minister. Minister Nusron Wahid stated he respects the legal process and denied knowledge of the alleged bribery, emphasizing that public land services will continue without interruption. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono also expressed respect for the legal proceedings, suggesting the incident should serve as an evaluation for government integrity. The investigation has since expanded, with the KPK naming eight suspects. These include the Head of the Bogor Land Office, the President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, and several individuals identified as close associates of Minister Nusron. During recent operations, investigators reportedly seized approximately Rp106.3 billion in various currencies. Nusron Wahid reiterated his commitment to cooperate fully with the KPK and expressed hope that the case would act as a catalyst for improving internal transparency and service quality within the ministry.
