KSW mixed martial arts competition updates
Overview
Recent developments within the KSW promotion involve both match results and fighter comeback efforts.
At the KSW 121 event in Liberec, Małgorzata Popowicz defeated Hanka Gelnarova via third-round submission. Following the bout, Ondřej Novotný, head of OKTAGON MMA, described the match as the ‘fight of the night’ and criticized KSW’s matchmaking, alleging that Czech fighters are frequently used as ‘fillers for Polish opponents.’
In other organizational news, fighters Piotr Kacprzak and Marian Ziółkowski are pursuing returns to competition. Kacprzak has met weight requirements but must secure a victory in an external organization to rebuild trust with KSW matchmaker Wojsław Rysiewski. Meanwhile, former lightweight champion Marian Ziółkowski is seeking a rapid return following a submission loss to Wilson Varela, with his camp offering to accept short-notice replacement fights in the 70 kg division.
