La Libertad Avanza political expansion and BCN appointments

The La Libertad Avanza (LLA) party has focused on expanding its organizational presence and leadership roles within Argentina. In San Juan, the movement reinforced its youth structure and opened a new provincial headquarters in the Pocito district, with party leader José Peluc emphasizing the goal of securing support for President Javier Milei.

Following these territorial developments, LLA leadership expanded into national legislative administration. The Bicameral Administrative Commission of the National Congress Library (BCN) elected Deputy José Peluc as president and lawyer Nahuel Piccoli Fortuny as general coordinating director.

These appointments have sparked significant controversy. Opposition legislators and labor unions have alleged that the voting procedure was fraudulent and that the previous director, Alejandro Santa, was pressured into resigning.

Scrutiny has also intensified regarding Piccoli Fortuny’s personal and professional background. Critics have raised concerns over a domestic violence complaint, which Piccoli Fortuny described as a “reciprocal preventive measure” involving his father that is currently being addressed by the judiciary. Additionally, potential conflicts of interest have been noted, as Piccoli Fortuny and Senator Enzo Fullone—who was elected as second secretary—are reportedly business partners in a construction company. Labor unions have expressed further alarm regarding the management of the institution’s budget and the potential for political interference in staffing.
