Labor dispute at Grand Termal Yalova
Overview
Employees at the Grand Termal Yalova Resort Hotel & SPA in the Termal district of Yalova have launched protests to demand unpaid salaries, severance pay, and other legal entitlements. Workers have occupied their assigned accommodations, reporting significant financial hardship and a lack of essential services such as food, water, electricity, and natural gas.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism previously canceled the hotel’s Tourism Operation Certificate following inspections that identified hygiene failures, fire safety risks, inadequate staffing, and improper food handling.
The All Hotel and Tourism Workers Union (OTIS) has identified outstanding claims including notice pay, unused annual leave, and overtime wages. Additionally, the union has called for investigations into allegations of substandard working conditions, the employment of minors, and the use of foreign nationals without proper work permits.
