Lagos State governance and security administration

Overview

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has continued his focus on administrative, civic, and security-related priorities.

In late September 2026, the Governor was scheduled to receive leadership recognition at an international masterclass on crisis and reputational management in Abuja. Concurrently, he met with digital creators and media executives to advocate for responsible communication and collaboration between the government and digital platforms to support state development and maintain peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Following these engagements, Governor Sanwo-Olu convened the Lagos State Security Council to review the state’s security architecture. The meeting focused on preventing criminal activity during the upcoming Yuletide festive season and managing security for various religious and cultural events. The council also addressed potential challenges stemming from intensified political activities following announcements regarding campaign periods.

Marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the Governor urged citizens to uphold patriotism, resilience, and social cohesion. Regarding infrastructure, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeka Branch, Adeniyi Quadri, called on the Governor to complete the Igbosere High Court Complex, which was destroyed in 2020, before his term ends in May 2027.

Additionally, Sanwo-Olu charged public servants to enhance service delivery following the graduation of the second cohort of the Public Service Accelerator Programme. On economic matters, he discussed the necessity of robust financial structures and regulation to connect real-world assets with investment capital through technology.
