Authorities in Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo, have initiated a sanitation program to remove abandoned, sunken, or semi-sunken vessels from the Nichupté Lagoon. The operation is a collaborative effort involving the Benito Juárez City Council, the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), and the Nautical Associates of Quintana Roo (ANQR). Initial plans targeted approximately 48 vessels, with a specific focus on an initial to 50 vessels.
