Land regularization in Querétaro

In late July 2026 Senator Agustín Dorantes Lámbarri intensified efforts to regularise irregular settlements in the Mexican state of Querétaro. On 22 July he visited the Los Pinos settlement, informing residents that their case had been filed with the National Institute of Sustainable Soil (INSUS) but remained stalled. He proposed creating an inter‑agency working table with state officials to clear administrative bottlenecks and urged families to keep documentation up‑to‑date.

Five days later, on 27 July, Dorantes announced a broader reform agenda. He cited that Querétaro has identified 1,168 irregular settlements, with roughly 20 % already regularised, 492 cases in progress and 435 still pending, affecting about 50,000 families. He plans to amend both federal and state laws to shorten bureaucratic delays that can last 15‑30 years, and scheduled a meeting with the director‑general of INsus in early August to address back‑logged cases. The reforms aim to provide property certainty, improve access to public services and enhance residents’ quality of life.
